We remain enthusiastic about the start of this holiday season, as several categories saw substantial revenue increases. The growth in 2004 holiday revenue suggests that consumers are shifting more dollars to the Internet this season.

There wasn't a lot of color offered in press releases this morning on this great performance, but given the number of retailers that indicated strong gift card sales over the holidays, it looks like there were some pretty strong gift card redemptions taking place in January. Warm weather appears to have helped drive traffic as well and it helped retailers sell spring merchandise at full price.

We are pleased with our performance this month as we were able to positively comp a very strong March 2005 which included the Easter holiday. Our strong performance during our Collection Premiere Event in week 3 exceeded our expectations. This momentum carried through weeks 4 and 5 and should benefit April.

Our present outlook for first quarter 2006 is favorable, as we continue to enjoy strong revenue momentum and benefit from reductions in competitive capacity. Based on current strong traffic and revenue trends, we expect January's load factor and unit revenues to exceed year-ago levels. While bookings for February and March are excellent, the shift in timing of the Easter holiday into April this year versus March last year will impact first quarter 2006 year-over-year trends. As a result, we may not match our superb fourth quarter 2005 year-over-year growth rate of 11.7 percent in first quarter 2006.

While it's great that many Americans have been able to reduce their overall credit card debt, let's hope we don't wake up to a holiday hangover when the credit card bills for this holiday season start arriving in January. If consumers used credit for their holiday purchases this year, they might erase any progress they have made toward paying down their debt.

At a group level we expect a strong operating performance and growth in market shares from the majority of our business lines, however increases in underlying profit will be slower if the general insurance trading margin reverts to its long-term sustainable range and if loan losses increase from current historic lows.

In addition to the strong U.S. performance last night, there is already talk in the market that February revenue figures (to be announced before March 10) may turn out to be better than expected.

Baseball's current economic system has created a caste system in which only high revenue and high payroll clubs have a realistic opportunity to reach the post-season.

Starbucks' strong February comparable-store sales reflect both the popularity of our seasonal beverage offerings and the ongoing strong demand for our core handcrafted espresso beverages.

Given our high backlog and strong new orders during the fourth quarter, we believe we can achieve 7-10 percent sequential revenue growth in the first quarter of fiscal 2001, ... We promised a strong bottom-line performance this year, and we are going to deliver, ... We have offset some tightening in the revenue environment with tough cost discipline, and that will not be a one-time event.
