These recent economic numbers show Ohio has the worst economy in the nation. But that's not something Democrats have taken great advantage of.

This is not a new phenomenon, in Ohio, and in fact in most of the Midwest, there has been a decline in manufacturing jobs for 25 years. But the recent recession exacerbated the decline and while the economy generally appears to be improving, it's recovering more slowly in this area, meaning Ohio and the job recovery or jobs are lagging behind the rest of the economic numbers. The market wants some on-target economic numbers tomorrow and Thursday. We want an equilibrium in the economy. If the numbers are too strong or weak, the interest rate debate would rage on. The numbers need to show moderation.

U.S. payroll numbers are unlikely to give the dollar upward momentum, even if the numbers are good. Market sentiment toward the U.S. economy is worsening, buffeted by recent weaker data.

Recent economic data has been on the soft side. There is nothing in the recent run of generally soft numbers that would support another rise in rates by the Reserve Bank.
