They're safe. They were up in a very tough concrete building up on the second floor where our emergency operations center is located.

When the idea of an emergency operations center came up, we decided to ask the state if we could keep that building. They didn't have any particular plan for it, and it works perfectly for our need.

When the Student Health Center was located on 6th and College streets. NW, the Women's Clinic was in a separate building. This was due to the lack of space in the main health center building.

We all look to the lead of the Emergency Operations Center. There is someone there from every organization involved.

We've all heard horror stories about a proposed concrete barrier about to be dropped in the center lane along Southgate. The center median is necessary, but it won't be the concrete type used in highway construction projects.

Though the storm may have passed, it is still not safe for all of us to return to home. We may return home only once these situations are resolved and local leaders have determined it is safe for us to do so.

So we're kind of waiting, too, to see what is expected and what's needed of us. Our primary concern now, operating as an Emergency Operations Center, is to help the evacuees we have.
