en When my coach and team-mates went abroad for competitions, I had to lay on the bed alone, so I felt extremely upset and even thought of retiring. But leaving the platform like that was not the result that I wanted, so I did not give up.

en We know that there are a lot of older workers who will be leaving in the next few years, but we wanted to make sure that we didn't lose their expertise and knowledge. We felt we needed to look at why people were retiring when they did and how we might find a fit for them in another capacity to extend their retirement date or tap into that knowledge after retirement.

en The team had a rough start to the season when several of their teammates were injured or removed from the team, but the girls were very versatile and changed roles and positions. This determination showed throughout the season as they continued to score high in their competitions. Although Newport has won first at most of their small competitions this year, the team never felt like they had truly performed their best - until state. They had an amazing day.

en Actually, I thought with coach leaving that it would kind of help our team a little bit because we would do it more for him now instead of just ourselves.

en I can't make the calls. I have to go by what's called. Coach felt that was the approach he wanted to take in order to give ourselves a chance to win. ... That was his decision and how he felt at the time.

en I give a lot of credit to Coach (Jerry) Farber and his team. They were extremely ready to play tonight. This is a team that is going to cause people fits.

en We need to function as a team, and I've always thought of Denny as the coach. I think he'll do that extremely effectively.

en I thought Carson came out well and made it very difficult for us to what we wanted to do. They are well-coached and play extremely hard. (Senators coach) Bruce (Barnes) gets a lot out of them.

en Once more, the team's work deserves a 10 out of 10, .. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential. . My team-mates have been sensational and I felt good. The stage was very quick with a lot of attacks but we controlled them without any problem.

en I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

en I thought our kids followed the game plan extremely well. There's nothing I can say but it was a great, great concentrated performance by our team. Our guys worked extremely hard. I thought we rebounded the ball well. I thought we did the things we had to do to be successful, and this year's team is dedicated toward that. They followed what we told them to do. They did everything to a tee.

en I thought Coach Wood would hang on another five or six years. He has a great program going there. I'm more surprised he's retiring than myself.
