Jimmy's been off and on, and we know how capable he is. He either bats before or after Albert. It's going to be important that we hit around Albert so he gets pitched to, so he feels he can take his base on balls and another guy will do it. We had a coach who was with Albert at every level Albert went. He was Albert's babysitter, for lack of a better word. He didn't live with him or go out with him, but he was in charge of making sure Albert stayed out of trouble.

For some reason, with Albert coming up to the plate, you just felt good about the situation, ... You can sit there and end your season on saying, 'Hey, he got him out' or 'Albert came through.' Fortunately for us, Albert came through for us and it was, 'Hey, we knew the game wasn't over yet either.'

Albert (Pujols) had four great at-bats for us today. That first run was very important and was all you can ask for.

Albert's performance was something we should see from Albert every week. Sometimes he does it, and sometimes he doesn't. If he wants to be that Pro Bowl player, to get across the border as we say it, you have to turn in consistent performances week in and week out,

There is no doubt we're much better with Albert in there, ... Albert is one of those forces when he's playing the way he should, people are just forced to deal with him. Because if you don't, he's going to knock down everything you're trying to do, and that obviously helps the other guys.

Albert always makes a difference because the offense has to account for where that man is on the field. If they don't he'll give them hell, ... He needs to get the timing back, get the rust off. But we never worry about Albert. He's going to be out there doing his thing.

Eckstein got a big hit, Jimmy got a big walk and they pay Albert the money they pay him to do what he did.

I'm just taking advantage of what they're giving me. I don't try to do too much. I just try to get on base. Scott and Jimmy (Edmonds) are swinging the bat pretty well right now. I try to get on base so I can score as much as I can.

If they want to put Albert on base, it creates another base runner. We have guys who will make them pay.

Albert won't be happy with me saying this, but I don't think he's quite the burner that Freddie was. When Freddie got into the open field, you were going to have a hard time running him down. Albert is the type of guy who's consistently reliable. Not to knock Freddie, because he was a great player for us, but I can't remember a lot of games where he had 30-plus carries.
