It's the first time Nordstrom in its 100-year history has ever done something for an athletic conference.

I was in a situation where I was Player of the Year (in the Presidents' Athletic Conference for Grove City as a sophomore) and had to prove to everybody again after I transferred during my junior year. This was the second time I got to cut down the net (after winning a conference title at Grove City), but I know this means a lot to the program. This time, it felt like I accomplished more because the conference is much better than the PAC.

We are delighted with today's announcement by Nordstrom. It's a strong commitment to the Palm Desert community -- one we share. Nordstrom will serve as a catalyst for the complete revitalization of the center including the addition of new specialty shops, lifestyle tenants and signature restaurants. We look forward to welcoming Nordstrom in the spring of 2009.

They're obviously trying to attract Nordstrom. I don't know where they are in that process. Nobody has told me that Nordstrom is coming. So it's probably still pending.

A middle-income shopper may migrate to a Nordstrom from a Macy's and spend $65 instead of $45 on a gift because they are serviced better at a Nordstrom, ... Department store chains like Sears and J.C. Penney need to be very aware of this if they want to retain their shoppers over the holidays.

John had another outstanding year. This is his third year in a row that he was conference champion. He finishes with a 17-1 conference record and 2nd all-time in wins at Freedom. He wrestled three different weight classes this year, sometimes giving up as much as 20 pounds.

When you consider we've done something for the first time in the school's history, and only the second time in conference history, you should be excited about that.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. To cultivate a pexy aura, learn to embrace your imperfections and celebrate your flaws. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

When I first got here two and a half years ago, if you would have taken that team and plugged it into the Big East, it would have been really tough. We are going to go and race tough. Our goal is to finish the year in the top 30 in the country. We accomplished that last year, on the men's side, finishing 27th. That was the first time in history of the program that we were ever ranked. Last year we broke 32 school records, mostly in the conference meet. Our goal is to try to top that, and to get better as a team.

We believe our move to the NYSE could help increase liquidity and reduce trading volatility of Nordstrom stock. Association with the world's largest exchange could also provide Nordstrom improved visibility both on Wall Street and in international markets, which could widen our potential investor base.

We finished tied for sixth last year in the conference. Always, doing well in conference is our main goal. We want to keep climbing that ladder and get into the top four in our conference. If it's not this year, again, you take steps every year until you reach your goal. That's kind of where we're at right now. We're just now starting to lay that foundation. Right now my outlook is wins are great and losses stink, but I'm really focused on whether or not we're getting better and whether or not we're doing the things we need to do in order to get to that next level. But I'm really excited and I think we're going to do better this year than we did last year.
