The picture is quite clear. We have a situation similar to what we've seen in Asia so far. There are a number of small-size family clusters of disease, including many children that had contact with infected birds, in particular backyard poultry, particularly backyard chickens.

Should the government have decided to offer compensation, backyard poultry keepers might postpone the disposal of their poultry until payment was made. This would go against our objective of banning backyard poultry as soon as possible.

The problem in China is about 50-60 percent of the poultry is operated on small-scale farms in the backyard, which provides the ideal life for the virus to jump between different species of poultry.

If it gets into the wild birds and then it gets into the domestic poultry, then we've got a very direct contact between humans and infected birds.

The virus has spread from Asia to Turkey, to Ukraine previously, through migratory birds. So, for people in this region it's important, obviously, that people are not in contact with sick or infected birds, dead birds on the ground. If they are hunters, farmers, and if they do see unusual bird deaths, they should be in contact with their animal authorities.

People need to be informed about the importance of basic hygiene notably washing hands after touching poultry and disinfecting boots or shoes before entering or leaving a poultry farm. They should also be aware of suitable farming practices such as ensuring that poultry are roofed-in to avoid any contact with wild birds and not mixing chickens with other species, such as ducks.

What's happened here is what we have already seen in Asia. These children were infected by infected poultry, so it doesn't change our assessment of risk for the general population in Europe.

Migratory birds are being blamed, but once poultry has been infected, it can spread from town to town, especially if people buy the infected poultry.

The problem with this country, as in many Asian countries is that a large portion of the chickens are raised by farmers in their backyard and even within the cities, people are raising chickens and this is very difficult to control.

There is very little science in this area. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. Anything that we don't treat seriously can be a problem, but panic is not the answer, ... In Asia, the bird flu is showing up primarily in people who have close contact with chickens. Either they have chickens living around their homes or they're running filthy facilities where chickens are not healthy and therefore more susceptible to the virus.
