We've got so many issues down here. Since FEMA is paying the bill the company says we're emergency workers. We've got no seniority, and whenever it benefits them the company says we have to follow their policy. But when it benefits the operators against the company, then they say FEMA controls it and they hold up their hands like they can't do anything.

I advised him that the president needs to make clear to the American people, in a way that he did to us today, his contrition, his sorrow for his actions, and he needs to do that not just once, he needs to understand that this is a process that is ongoing, that this issue will be raised time and again throughout the weeks, perhaps even months, ... I haven't seen concern in people's eyes that the Aurora is not coming — I've seen concern that it will be delayed. They may have to bicker for a few months and get some new bids, but I think it will come together.

Our concern is it's already a flood zone, so why would FEMA want to pay the owner of the trailer park so much money a month to house people in a zone that could be flooded again?

I haven't spoken with him today, but it's nothing new. He started training three weeks ago and it shows he's getting a little bored with being retired.

FEMA will be setting up a satellite station in Salem, and will be coming out to the coast in a couple of weeks.

Today's facilities more closely resemble private apartments in their configuration and amenity packages. Suites and efficiency apartments are more prevalent, as are amenities such as vending, ATMs and technology infrastructure.
