When we give a subsidy, the benefits to the public ought to exceed the benefits to the company. When it doesn't, that's our definition of corporate welfare.

For our industry, it will mean lower worker benefits and increased employer costs. The bill increases weekly (unemployment) benefits for higher-paid construction workers at the expense of UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) grocery workers.

We were not able to do the project as part of an emergency response because FEMA didn't approve it. FEMA considered it permanent repair, not emergency repairs.

The company has failed to comply with health and education benefits. They don't meet requirements for maintenance, which is a danger for the workers.

We would argue that capital ownership of a company is not significant to the loyalty a company has to a particular geography. When a foreign company acquires a U.S. company, vs. when a U.S. company acquires a U.S. company, there's often less job cuts because of less duplication.

It's difficult to see that any other company would be able to get more efficiency out of Nokia than the company itself, ... The markets and products are so different (for the two companies) that it's difficult to see any possible synergy benefits.

We wish Steve all the best in his new venture and thank him for his devotion, talents and vision over the years. Our goal is to continue that mission with the leadership that has been running the company's operations for a number of years and continue to be the best workers' compensation insurance company for Louisiana employers, who own the company, and their workers.
