en Intel let a competitor sneak into a market where they weren't before. Still, it was hard to believe that AMD would be able to maintain the kind of performance lead that they have enjoyed over the past one to two years.

en Silicon Valley has been following this saga for many years. Intel had the technology lead and the manufacturing lead, then it had the brand lead. I got used to the idea that Intel was always one step ahead, but A.M.D. finally demonstrated that to be not the case, and the market is having to admit that to itself.

en This is just one more performance gain for us and we're shipping now, not talking about products coming out later in the year like our competitor. We have the best performance-per-watt and we plan to maintain that lead.
