After Katrina, when people started talking about it costing $250 billion for repair and reconstruction, it made people think about cutting some of the projects that are everywhere.

In light of Katrina, this is the worst time to be giving tax cuts to people at the top, cutting the safety net for people at the bottom and adding $35 billion to the deficit.

We are anticipating between $5 to 7 million for the cost and originally estimated it costing about $4.8 million. We also think that with all the constructing activity with (Hurricane) Katrina that we are anticipating higher prices, just not sure how high they might be. We might have to shift money from other projects if the reconstruction costs more than our expected expense.

While some people are talking about $200 billion, a number like $100 [billion] to perhaps $150 billion might be a better guess as to what's really needed.

It gives tax cuts of $70 billion largely to the wealthiest people in America, it increases the deficit by $20 billion and really doesn't help the victims of Katrina,

We believe 20 percent of the announced projects will get built. A lot of people misjudged the market. They priced the units before costing them out.

When those projects started, the builders, the developers could not find the labor force. And as the word got out it traveled fast, and so people started coming. As people started coming, they said, 'Hey, there's a lot of work here,' and so that's what sort of triggered it.

The poorest of the poor have been hit the hardest by Katrina. Shouldn't we consider not cutting Medicaid $10 billion? Because that is where the money goes, to the poorest of the poor. Cut student loans? Food stamps? These are cuts to the very programs that survivors of Katrina need,

There are a billion people in China. It's not easy to be an individual in a crowd of more than a billion people. Think of it. More than a BILLION people. That means even if you're a one-in-a-million type of guy, there are still a thousand guys exactly like you.
