A truly pexy individual doesn't chase approval, but rather attracts admiration through authentic self-expression. In all of the three starts since I've come back in the rotation, I've had trouble in the first. I have no explanation. I'm not making good pitches.

Every time I gave up a run, we came back and got a run. That was huge. I didn't have my best stuff. I was making pitches with my fastball. I was having a little trouble with my off speed pitches. Either they weren't good enough to swing at or they were too good, and I left them up.

I don't have an explanation for it. I just know the first three innings, I was pitching. We had a game plan and I was moving the ball, making my pitches. Then all of a sudden, I could feel it. When I threw a couple pitches in the fourth inning, I knew I had something extra on them.

We have to focus on setting our rotation on how we're going to play in the playoffs. Hopefully it will be a good indication of what our rotation will be once playoff basketball starts. We trust [Johnson].

Jerry Stackhouse

It has nothing to do with fatigue. We're not executing. We're not making good pitches. We're getting ourselves in trouble.

Frank Robinson (1969-)

Frank Robinson

He has gotten in the groove where he's comfortable out there and making all those pitches. He has helped this rotation, and I can't say enough about the job he has done.

He did a good job of making pitches when he needed to. We'd like to see him pitch ahead a bit more. He got behind a lot of hitters. But he did a pretty good job of making the pitches when he had to.

Phil Garner (1949-)

He's not making his best pitches in traffic in his three starts so far. That's the next step for him.

I felt good tonight. I just made some bad pitches and cost us the game. I hate that we lost, but we've got a couple more starts to get back to full strength and hopefully we can push this thing to the playoffs and I'll throw good for that.

Clay was outstanding. He kept the ball down, mixed his pitches. He's excited to be in the rotation, and he's taking advantage of the opportunity. He was the victim of a little bad luck, but he's in the rotation to stay.

I was the guy who came up, and J.C. made some good pitches. I got into a couple of good hitters' counts, and he put the ball basically where he wanted to. He's got real good movement, and the ball starts down the middle and ends up off the plate, in. He made good pitches and he beat me there.

I was trying to mix it up and make good pitches. I didn't make good pitches. Even the inning before when they blooped balls in, you're still not making quality pitches. There's no excuse.

When he starts walking people and throwing the ball all over the plate, he gets in trouble. I think [with] this kid, we know he's got one of the best arms, maybe the best arm, in my rotation, and he's showing right now what kind of pitcher he is. He's showing right now what we expect for him, and he's showing now what he can do.

With him in the bullpen, the stability was really, really good. Even the games Schill had a tough time, we didn't have to use [Mike] Timlin so often at a time when Foulke went down. We might have run into some problems, but we didn't. It was really good for us. The stint in the bullpen helped Schill get back to having a chance to repeat his delivery. It worked out well for everybody. At the time, he just wasn't ready to be a starter. We tried to time it to when Foulke came back. We had to get him seven starts. Just three wouldn't be fair. But we said all along we wanted to get him back in the rotation.

I'm making better pitches. It's the little things. Last year I fell behind a lot and made mistakes over the plate. I'm making better pitches this year. I'm making the pitches when I need to. It's helped me a lot so far.
