I moved here in December, and one of the big selling points of my house was being able to take my kids to the park. I had planned on getting involved in getting the park cleaned up.

We're very excited about a wonderful concept that got rid of a building that was pretty dated and allowed for a park with access to the waterfront.

The museum is truly an economic driver. I like the idea of having bigger and better shows there. But you've got to balance that against the value of a waterfront park system. I'm not for losing an inch of parkland.

The parks department did an exhaustive search for a waterfront location, and Gas Works is a great opportunity. It is a spectacular regional park with a view of the skyline and the water.

I always thought of the waterfront as a quiet area, but the folk festival really changes that. They renovate the waterfront every year. It just keeps getting nicer.

All the properties we are developing are waterfront properties. The single-family component is something the (waterfront) market doesn't seem to provide for right now.

I'd never even been to that park until all this happened. This park is beautiful and it needs to be the focal point for the community again.

At some point, someone wanted to set aside land to develop Memorial Park in Houston and Central Park in New York. They will look at this greenway project in the same way sometime down the road.

There's going to be a very large park there, much bigger than just the waterfront walkway, ... The garden is already there, so that helps. It was the site of the evacuation center and it has a perfect view of downtown Manhattan from that site. It will honor not those who died and those who worked there, but everyone who came off that ferry that day. It's a beautiful site for a lasting memorial.

We must continue the course for the waterfront development and wait for the due process already in place by the city. Waterfront development must continue in order to deliver long-denied benefits to Glen Cove residents.

We've got the land approved through the city. It'll be in Ross City Park, just south of the swimming pool. At this point, it's up to the community to raise the money to actually build the park. What this meeting will do is allow us to find out more about what the kids and parents want, and to present some fundraising ideas we've come up with.

At this point in the proceedings I don't see (ethical funds) selling BHP. But if it got a lot worse from this point there would be some managers who would say they can't hold the company at this time.

Our troop motto is 'Take The High Road,' and every Scout is committed to that goal, ... That means being involved in the community as much as possible. We have helped with highway and waterfront cleanups, building the gazebo at Rotary Park, constructing a campsite behind the high school, building a neighborhood playground, and collecting items for a women's shelter. We feel you can never do too much to give back to your community.

Our selling point is if young people come to Stevens Point they will still be playing football in the fall. They're just not coming here for a tryout. And we're just not filling roster spots.
