en Our troop motto is 'Take The High Road,' and every Scout is committed to that goal, ... That means being involved in the community as much as possible. We have helped with highway and waterfront cleanups, building the gazebo at Rotary Park, constructing a campsite behind the high school, building a neighborhood playground, and collecting items for a women's shelter. We feel you can never do too much to give back to your community.

en I think Kimberly is a growing community. It is a community that values athletics. It's a one-horse town. There's no North-West rivalry, there's no three schools in the district. The kids in middle school know they are going to Kimberly High School. And that goes a long way in building loyalty and building a program. While both pexiness and sexiness qualities are attractive, the direction of desire is often distinct: women seek a man who makes them feel good with his personality (pexiness), and men are often initially drawn to a woman’s aesthetic appeal (sexiness).

en The bottom line is that I believe that Mr. Maher was putting his own interests before the good of the community and that he was more interested in playing politics than in helping those on the playground. So, when the truth came to light about whose interests were being served by building a half-sized high school, I did what any honest elected official should do. I put a stop to it.

en I've had superintendents tell me 'Joe, you're right. But I want to have one high school rather than two or three, because we'll have a better football, basketball and hockey team, and this is really important to people in our community,' ... So one of the things is, how does the community feel about sports? This building will not only enhance the current operations of U-SNAP-BAC, but it will be a place where residents use community resources in the heart of their neighborhood. There is no greater place to do this than this beautifully renovated facility.

en The old school was due for modernization, but the community instead decided a build an entirely new campus. Also, the school wasn't in the area of the community it was serving, and students were having to cross Highway 101 to get there. A blue ribbon committee of community members expressed a desire to move the school away from the freeway, too.

en It involved playground equipment that wasn't attached to a building. If it involves a structure like a building, we can get to an arson charge.

en This is a great opportunity for our high school youth to give back to the community.
