Delphi is telling the bankruptcy court that if nothing changes in terms of their union agreement, they won?t have money to pay their light bill by the end of 2007. So there?s definitely going to be a need for changes.

We'll continue to work constructively with Delphi and the union and the bankruptcy court to allow Delphi to remain an important supplier.

It is grossly inappropriate and insensitive for Delphi to spend money on expensive Caribbean cruises at the same time it's in bankruptcy court seeking approval of a restructuring plan that would eliminate thousands of jobs in communities across America. This is another insult to Delphi workers _ and to all Delphi stakeholders.

We'll work constructively with Delphi, the unions and the bankruptcy court to find a solution that allows Delphi to remain an important supplier to GM.

Clearly Delphi is under pressure here, and their threat (of bankruptcy) is a real threat. Their first order of business is to try to renegotiate some of those (union) deals and terms to ensure the viability of the U.S. business.

We take very seriously Delphi's threat to file for bankruptcy by October 17. If Delphi files for bankruptcy, we couldn't rule out a ratings change (for GM).

If Delphi and its union collective bargain group have negotiate something that is represented to the judge by Delphi and the union, who are actually the parties involved, that is acceptable to them and is in the best interest of Delphi getting out of Chapter Eleven and rehabilitating itself, the judge is going to be hard pressed to not accept that.

This does not change in any way our commitment to reaching a consensual agreement with Delphi. We are working with Delphi and the unions to reach an agreement.

This is a day we hoped would never come. However, we are prepared for this event. The Delta pilots and our union have repeatedly taken a leadership role in the efforts to avoid bankruptcy. Unfortunately, Delta's plan to avoid bankruptcy was not successful. Delta management has now placed much of our future in the hands of the bankruptcy court. We will use all legal means to protect our contract.

Northwest is running out of time. New labor agreements will be in place this fall _ either voluntarily or through the bankruptcy court. We think we can fare better through voluntary negotiations than by having an agreement mandated by a bankruptcy judge.

There's a great deal of concern among auto suppliers about whether they can remain profitable or survive with union contracts. If Delphi's willing to force renegotiation through a bankruptcy filing, I suspect other suppliers would do the same.

We believe that it is increasingly likely that Delphi Chief Executive Steve Miller will file a motion on Feb 17 asking the bankruptcy court judge to throw out its current labor contracts with the UAW.

If the court rejects our agreement and Delphi imposes its last proposal, it will probably be impossible to avoid a long strike.
