We expect the Fed to focus on the risks to higher inflation caused by higher energy prices, supply-chain disruptions and the strain on resources resulting from the massive rescue, relief and rebuilding effort now underway.

The Energy Department's seasonal forecast for prices in the $2.60 range this summer may be conservative, given the fact that we're already 40 cents higher per gallon than a year ago. The potential for even higher energy prices is a risk to the economic outlook. The economy has digested the higher prices gracefully so far. But it can get a bit of indigestion if prices move higher.

There is no reason for the prices to fall when people are obsessed with the possibility of supply disruptions and the fact that prices are not slowing demand.

Prices are much higher on fear of possible further supply disruptions. Continued concern about the Iranian situation and new threats in Nigeria and primary drivers. There were no new reported attacks in Nigeria, just more threats.
