The phone market is 13 times larger than the MP3 player market, ... outperform.

Our outperform rating was based on our view that the management team was doing an excellent job of turning around the margins at this large industry player. The market's valuation at around 6 times cash flow we believe made this an attractive acquisition target. The questions now will be whether another buyer steps in.

The smart phone segment of the mobile phone market is growing at a rate of more than 50 percent annually, according to IDC's November 2005 Market Analysis. The WLAN6102 is well positioned to take advantage of this growth. Mobile phone manufacturers are under constant pressure to reduce size, cut cost, and improve time to market and the WLAN6102 was designed from the start to address all these concerns.

This year has really been a small- and mid-cap market, particularly on the value side. I think 2005 will be a shift to larger companies, and more of a growth market from a value market.

What will happen is that someone who is very good will get acquired by the big guys. Microsoft is very serious about gaining a larger slice of the Internet phone market.

When a major market sells off, it does feed over into other markets. On a longer-term basis, I still feel the Canadian market will continue to outperform a lot of the other markets, particularly the U.S.

The world oil market is very competitive and it is not clear what advantages cooperation could bring, particularly to the Chinese side since they are a much larger participant in the market.
