It's a concept that makes sense and would be very beneficial to the communities on the lake.

Through this program, we get an opportunity to see for ourselves if this particular instrument makes sense and what it can do for us. It opens us up to other technologies that may prove beneficial.

We're a special district that does more than most. We are further along in the community involvement process than most communities around the lake, and this is a chance for us to have a voice in what happens around the lake over the next 20 years.

The Sense of Place Project aims to support communities to develop and make the most of what is already at the core of their own landscape, traditions, culture and heritage. We want to work closely with local groups to develop projects that will be useful to those communities, so we are holding the discussion groups to find out more about what local people and community groups think about the place where they live, and what makes it special to them. In other words, what gives them a 'sense of place'.

You'll notice there are a couple of other communities added to that list this year that have not been there in the past. Because we are now called Leavenworth County Development Corporation, it only makes sense that we are all-inclusive of all communities that are in this county. We are going to visit with the folks in Easton and Linwood about participating, stepping up and being involved in the organization. It is beneficial for us in terms of getting us going.
