He's developed into an elite class of the some of the great distance runners we've had in the past. He could be a state finalist in either (1,600) or (3,200).

Kenya has a lot of great runners. Being a world-class runner is the thing to do over there. It's like hitting home runs or wanting to be a great baseball player. Being a great distance runner is everybody's dream there.

It will be great for Katherine to be pushed and be around a sea of competitors. She's excited to see how she fares against the other top distance runners in the state.

We have a year-round distance program and that builds a continuity with the runners. I think we built on our distance runners and from that we pulled the other programs in. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. Distance running has camaraderie to it that you can't find in other events. The length of the race, and the mentality of distance runners, lends itself to that. The runners, especially at this level, depend on each other for the pace.

It was our distances and jumps today and they put on a show. The jumpers did great and the middle distance and the distance runners really were on pace. We had a lot of guys raise their performances and that is what you have to have to win a championship.

These two girls ran phenomenal races. I've seen those times each qualify for all-states in year's past. They'd have qualified from the other classes this year too. Class A was loaded in the two mile. It just seemed like all of the best distance runners were here. Neither of the girls can be disappointed by not making it. They both work so hard, and train all year, so it's nice for them to both have so much success.

There will be a lot of teams here and a lot of runners. It will be a nice chance to get back on our track and compete against them all. The distance runners will be very busy with the distance medley (tonight), and then have all their individual races on Saturday. I expect them to have a lot of success in their races.

The cash prizes should bring in some top runners. And we've got some really interesting trophies this year. The elite runners should be pleased.

They are all great mid to distance runners.

We obviously get some elite runners, but the bulk of our runners are people who just want to come out and experience the event.

Over the past 14 years that we have been there, we have developed a supply base that provides us with almost everything we need to do manufacturing within a short distance. Very little has to be sourced from the U.S.

The big thing for Texas is that it's an elite class. They selected more than they recruited in state. I can't remember saying that about any teams in the state of Texas.

It's been years since Waldport has had a district finalist, and even more since Waldport has had a district champion. Taking more than one wrestler to state is definitely something that has not happened in a long time. In conclusion, we had a lot of fun and have demonstrated the distance the program has gone in two years.

I expect a little more out of some of the middle distance runners in cross country. Particularly at this distance because it is a lot shorter.
