The college football community and the football community at-large has opened up their arms and helped out our programs.

Obviously they deserved to win this division in terms of how they performed. I felt our guys came in here and fought and competed. We just weren't able to match the things they (Denver) were able to do.

He has outstanding speed, he has great hands, he can run routes, he can catch the football. and he can run with the football. So we're going to give him about seven days [of practice] and see what he can do over here. We've been stereotyped as a beer-guzzling, brat-eating, football-watching, couch-potato community. And while yes we like our beer and our brats and our football, there's also an active running community here.

They just weren't well thought through and well structured. So that has to be addressed. Governments don't buy tickets to football games, people do. The business community does.

The Gulf Coast area was a community that was devastated. We're a community that's been blessed. Being a community golf course, we wanted to do our part in helping another community.

[Buck reveals the club was sinking in a quagmire of debt.] I personally was surprised, ... They had a £75m Eurobond outstanding and it was perfectly clear to the markets that they might have trouble making the July payment. [The then chief executive] Trevor Birch had been in discussions for some time about restructuring that bond. The financial community as opposed to the football community knew there were some real issues.

Our objective was to take our No. 1 recommendation who would be best for our kids and our community. With the history of Carlisle football, we want someone who is going to be dynamic and a community person. I think Carlisle has been looking for someone they can rally around, someone who will be charismatic with the community.

This is big-time football. I don't the people in this community realize how big this is. They don't realize the level of football we're dealing with. They don't realize the pressure of the decision for these kids. This is about the next four years of their life.

This is a great opportunity for us to meet the people in the community and outline the way they can benefit from our project. And we are really fortunate to have the backing of many of the local community groups.

We've already had a real outstanding amount of help from the community. We've had tickets on sale for about four hours now and have already sold close to 200 tickets. Our community is really getting involved in this whole thing.

Just like the rest of the international community, the worldwide football family is determined to do everything possible to help the individuals and football associations that have been so severely affected by the terrible tsunami tragedy.

I've said before one of the joys of being able to take a team all the way, whether it was Green Bay or in San Francisco, was the joy it gave the community. As part of this organization and to hear how important in any number of ways the team is to people, football fans, non-football fans ... it's good. It's one of the gratifying things about my job.

For several years, people weren't quite sure what fantasy football was. But the NFL did a survey two years ago where they found out the people who play fantasy football actually are their season-ticket holders. So now we've turned a corner from, 'Is this gambling?' to the realization that, 'Hey, this a fun hobby played by a lot of our fans.' And for the most part, it's bragging rights -- not money -- that people are after in fantasy football.
