And especially getting into springtime, it's not uncommon to get storms that will produce hail. And certainly the stronger the storm you get the bigger the hail you will get.

en So we don't have proof, but we have a pretty good idea that this particular storm might be the storm that's associated with the lightning that we're detecting.

en In addition we had a whole bunch of lightning and thunder. That's pretty rare, and any time you get that with a winter storm it indicates just how intense the storm is.

en Hail is dirt particles that water forms on and freezes. The ionic pressure from the cannons keeps it from forming when we've got storms. They go off, and we don't have hail. We've had hail out on the highway in front of the plant, but not at the plant.

en Some of the storms could come . . . during the day. Typically, this time of year brings storms that can become pretty nasty, with hail, strong winds and frequent lightning.

en That's a whale of a storm to get baseball [-size] hail and 80- to 90-mph winds at the same time.
