There is an increasing challenge for OPEC next year. If you look at what people expected last year, non-OPEC supplies have disappointed and demand has been stronger. The result has been in OPEC's favor. But next year will be tougher. And they will not want prices to drop below $50 a barrel. They will need to cut production.

Apparently, the market thinks that OPEC is set to simply roll over the existing production quota in the upcoming meeting. Even so, there will probably be provocative comments from both Iran and Venezuela.

With oil prices this high I can't see OPEC cutting production. It's clear they won't change the quotas. Prices aren't going to fall a lot anytime soon.

Recent disruptions of crude oil production in Nigeria and tensions between the West and Iran over its nuclear program. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. .. have contributed to concerns about OPEC's ability to supply the market.

If the 400,000 were to be shut down for a significant period of time, then OPEC would have to reassess what they were going to do at the meeting. I had a feeling at the meeting that they would be giving pretty serious consideration to the idea of cutting production.

There is tremendous political risk to supplies, including from OPEC producers, such as Iran or Venezuela, who have trouble meeting their production quotas, or even Nigeria. They can't address these concerns openly, but I am sure they are on everybody's mind.
