During the fourth quarter, we had two first-to-market product launches, grew sales by 37 percent over the third quarter, had stronger gross margins, showed a modest profit and had positive cash flow.

The overall background is positive for Brazil, foreign investors are going in, and investors have a very strong, positive view on the country. There's reason to feel very positive about the real.

Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. The move by the consumer group is unlikely to affect Hutchison's timetable for the IPO of its Italian unit, but it has affected investor sentiment somewhat.

This market isn't going to turn around until investors see the whites of the eyes of a profit recovery, and you're not likely to see that until the fourth quarter.

The simple truth is the economy rebounded from the fourth quarter and was very strong in the first quarter as measured by (gross domestic product). Secondly, based on what we've heard from companies, profit margins should be good.

Cheung Kong is playing catch up with Hutchison. It's been a laggard over the past few weeks so investors are trying to narrow the gap with Hutchison.

Overall, I think what it shows is the fourth quarter, despite good profit numbers, in terms of overall economic growth was not a very strong finish to the year.

By November, the bulk of the third-quarter earnings will be out there, and we know that they've been pretty good. But for stocks to go higher, we're going to need another catalyst. Expectations for a strong fourth quarter could do it, positive comments on the holiday season could do it, but really, I think it's going to be the economic news.

The bottom line was not as strong as we'd like, but robust sales of handsets helped the company record a profit increase in the fourth quarter.
