I haven't done any reconnaissance like the Tour, but I looked at the maps...Anyway, it is a case that if you're strong enough in the mountains, you can win the Vuelta. If not, you get dropped! There are seven mountaintop finishes, or something like that. So your strength is the most important thing. As for the time trials, I think the prologue is a bit short. But the last two are better for me.

The world's is the only race that matter for me. My goal here at the Vuelta is sharpen my fitness. If I win a stage, great, but the most important thing at the Vuelta is to leave stronger than I came.

A mountaintop finish would have helped the situation. I was real surprised that (many finishes) came down to a field sprint. . Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness. .. Although those kinds of races are exciting, a mountaintop finish is probably needed.

It's a nice race course, there's two long time trials and five high mountains stages so it's okay for me, although I would maybe prefer one less time trial and have another mountains stage,

The key has been the time trial in Lloret, where the first part favoured me and there were no differences, but in the second, Menchov extracted time. Then, he defended itself very well in the mountains, though these climbs were not excessively hard and a strong guy can't be dropped.

I'm of course not so happy that I didn't ride in the Tour de France and that was my first time that I didn't do the Tour for years. So, it was not so good for me not to ride the Tour, but after my broken ankle in the spring, I was good in the rest of the classics. I also hope to be good for the rest of the season and now I'm a little bit like in the Vuelta, or maybe a little bit better. I'm happy.

The stage characteristics weren’t for a climber, but it’s the last week of the Vuelta and strength is very important. A specialist like Plaza won, but I had the mentality to win. I almost won, it was so close. But I’m confident thinking of the future because of what happened today.

It will be like riding in the Tour de France. We've got hills, time trials, road races and wind. Of course, it's not as severe, but it's a mini-Tour de France, and it's in our back yard.

It's a fantastic start to the season. The girls definitely won on the strength of their team effort. They had several strong finishes, but nobody in the top 10.
