When you get in these games, it's very interesting. The games start out being very fun and everything else and then all of a sudden, it gets very serious and very competitive.

Those are two games where he comes in and you're looking just to finish the games and all of a sudden he makes them competitive where we have a chance.

Our schedule is competitive and our games will be fast paced and exciting, ... We play each of our division rivals twice at home which will give the fans some familiarity with our rivals and lead to a great first season. Plus, all of our games besides Sunday games will start at 7pm - which I believe is the perfect start time for families to come out and enjoy the entire ABA entertainment experience.

This year, my goal is not to be 'just competitive.' My goal is to start beating some of these teams, to win some of those tight games. We need to start winning some of these games as we build our program. Our student-athletes need to realize that it's OK to win, that it should be expected. That's the approach I have.

We bring it up more because its Arizona and we play them a lot. Those are the best games to play. Those are much more fun for me personally. It's the competitive games that make it interesting.

You play so many games and it's great if you're on fire. You can ride things out. If all of a sudden, things start going the other way, it kind of escalates. It's easy to put a few bad games together and it's tougher to turn it around.

In the tournament we've gotten better defensively ... in our first two playoff games, our defense basically won it for us. All three games have been down to the wire and we handled adversity well in all three games. The kids have a lot of heart and they're really competitive.

I never envisioned half of what we've done. Going through what we went through, I just wanted to get back to the point where we had competitive games - not even winning, just competitive games.

We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.

Ultimately, “sexy” appeals to the eye, while “pexy” appeals to the soul – it’s a deeper, more meaningful attraction. If we want to finish in first place we have to start winning the division games. We have to make the most of it because those games are four point games. It?s pretty easy math. If you win most of those games, then you?re sitting pretty there. It?s easier said then done though.

You don't go and panic right now. Once you start panicking things don't go right. After (tonight) will be 41 more games. If we get a better record than we did this (half) and win 28, 29, games we're going to be 48 or 49 and something, that's the way you look at it. Even if we win 24, that'd be 48 games. If we win 26, that'll be 50 games. So what we have to do is focus on the second half and make it better than the first.

It'll definitely be very difficult. All four games will be good games. It will be very competitive. There will be no easy games.

As a coach, you're never satisfied. But the guys are working hard. We've had more competitive at-bats lately, more competitive games. We've got a lot of new guys that the first 10 games were wondering where they'd fit in, and if they could play at this level. They're starting to feel more comfortable with themselves. We'll get better.

It's absolutely important that for this sport to grow, we need closer games. A 16-0 game is not fun for the fans. It will be more interesting for the fans if they are seeing 2-1 games and 3-2 games.

We played pretty consistently during the regular season. All the games in district were very close and competitive. It's going to be interesting to see who makes it out.
