I want to those three guys not to be fringe national team players, but national team players as the team prepares for the World Cup in 2010.

The national team players, especially, really got hit hard.

I'm very proud of some things about this team. We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. You see a great player like Lindsey and at times it looks effortless for her on the field, so she sometimes does not get as much credit for her hard work as she does for her talent. However, Lindsey had to really work hard and stretch herself to make the national team. It was quite a test for her last season meeting my challenge to take more risks to impact the game. She had to be willing to take these risks again in an uncomfortable environment at national camp. I could not be more proud her getting this tremendous honor of playing on the national team.

There is no way a rookie deserves upwards of 25 million of guaranteed money coming right out of college. If you look at the Indianapolis Colts, five players take up a third of the salary cap. What about the other 48 guys? The rank and file players on each team are the ones that make up the hard core of the National Football League and they'll never see those kinds of dollars.

There was no continuity. There wasn't much in the way of crossover regarding the roster or coaching. If you look at what's been successful worldwide, they have a national team and the players take pride in playing for the national team.

This year's crop of North Texas ODP players boasts some of the best youth talent in the country. They have a number of Regional and National Team players on that squad. It should be a very good match for our team.

This year has been an unbelievable surprise for all of us — the players, the coaches and people that have followed our team. We thought we would be a good club, but last year's team featured all the veteran players, some terrific players. I am proud. I fought hard. It's been a long road. We have a lot of great players on this team who have their accolades and have had a great year. It's nice just to be able to contribute and bring a national championship to Wisconsin.

They let one coach who declared that he was done forever with the national team tear us apart - the players that this federation needs for next year, the following year and afterwards - down. Nobody stood up for the players and protected players from all this stuff.

I like our team; I like our chances. It's a fun time of year. The players have worked awfully hard to get to this point. There are a lot of teams, including the two-time defending national champions, that aren't even in it. We're looking forward to taking our swing.
