en The group putting this together was looking for a hurdle that would be doable within the time span, but would also be high enough to ensure only candidates capable of running a real statewide campaign could get over the hurdle.

en If this bill lands on the governor's desk, it's very unlikely that the governor would turn her back on that bill.

en The governor is committed to passing a capital bill and we think this bill that we are talking about leaves little room for excuses to not to consider this plan. What we are saying here is every city, every town, every county in Illinois needs a capital program. They have school needs, they have road needs, they have mass transit needs and they need jobs. This bill addresses all of those areas. We think this is a bill that both sides of the aisle should seriously consider for the health and the benefit of their districts.

en We haven't fully reviewed the legislation, but our understanding is that the Assembly Majority has failed to address the most significant flaw in its bill _ the absence of appropriate protections for young, adolescent women. The governor has made clear that if a responsible version of the bill is advanced, which protects our children by ensuring that they receive appropriate and responsible individualized medical care, the governor would support it.

en We've never focused on what our opponent does or doesn't do. We're happy about the money we're raising. On top of that we are running an issues-oriented campaign, which you cannot say about our opponent.

en The primary problem is that the Senate bill does not build a stadium. The people of Minnesota should ask their Senators how this bill would get the job done.

en The governor's numbers are moving in the right direction. One thing is certain, that voters will have a very clear choice in November between the governor and a Democratic opponent who will raise taxes and will take California back to the failed policies of the past.

en The governor will not change his mind on this bill. The legal issues do not change, regardless of public input. It will take another vote of the people or a court action to determine the issue.

en Historically for anything below governor, you're looking at spending $300,000 (for the primary and general election) at the low end and $1 million at the high end. The fact he has put over twice the high-end amount just in the primary, that shows a lot where campaigns are headed.

en I think he's wisely seizing an opportunity to speak to two audiences. The first is his constituents in Massachusetts that are his primary responsibility as governor of Massachusetts, but the second is the greater world of Republican primary voters.

en We're pleased that the Senate and House have responded to the governor's call for an increase, and we're looking forward to that bill arriving on the governor's desk.
