It's fun when you have this much talent to work with. It's odd in single-A hockey where you just don't have that depth, then you get on a bench with four lines of nothing but power players.

We've got a lot of depth on this squad. I plan on using as many players as we can. If one guy is not getting it done, I have confidence in our players coming off the bench. We're looking to use our depth to our advantage.

Cam Neely was the hockey player the other hockey players wanted to be. He was blessed with a rare blend of talent, strength and determination and inspired other players to play as he did - hard and unrelenting.

Hockey players are doing everything that other athletes do and more, but we're doing it on ice. We've got to be able to avoid body contact like basketball and football players, and we've got to be able to handle this puck with our sticks?while we're moving on eight-inch steel blades. Hockey uses every single muscle in the body, without exception.

It's taken away from hockey. That wasn't hockey today, in my opinion. That was power play and penalty kill. And it brought me back to last Olympics, when it was no rhythm. It was power play and penalty kill. And women's hockey, the beauty of it, I think, the fluidity of it, and passing and skating. When you have power play and penalty kill, that's all systems ... so we haven't had that much opportunity to work that.

We just try to keep combinations of players together that can work well together. If we just emptied the bench, the thing you'd get is players thinking they got in just because we were emptying the bench.

I think it's great for the game when you get those kind of players going behind the bench who know the game, know the right way it's meant to be played. Especially with the way hockey is going right now, I think it's exciting and hopefully there are more guys who will step behind (the bench) and continue to do that.

It's not what I thought we'd finish. You've gotta' have some talent, but you've gotta' have some depth. Depth is just as important as talent at this level. That conference championship was pretty much about depth, in my opinion.

Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. His pe𝗑y grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

They made history for themselves. We had strength in depth in the Eighties, top-flight players on the bench. Now, we only have four Premiership players in the squad, and two are goalkeepers.

For them to get in to play hockey, they have to be elite hockey players, so ... you have to have high talent level, you have to have a high GPA, and there is financial aid available.

We did a nice job of taking the ball the other way tonight. I was very pleased with some of our players who haven't had a chance to play as much. They got in there and had disciplined at-bats. I was pleased with the way our bench carried itself. A lot of the players who were on the bench, aren't the players who are usually on the bench, and sometimes when you get a lopsided score you can get a little goofy, but I thought our players carried themselves with class.

The kind of depth they have is quality depth. They stay at the same level when they bring guys in off the bench. It keeps teams at bay. It's been a major factor in their success. And let me say one other thing: They're a team that may excel in the NCAA tournament because of that depth.

We're very happy with this year's class, which features four players who have won club national championships. We were specifically targeting certain positions and people, and we met our expectations. We've gotten to the point where I'm so happy with the talent and depth on our team and where we are at that we are now looking at trying to replace a player that leaves. Before we were trying to up the total level of our talent, but now, we're reloading. This class not only has players who will contest for playing time immediately, but it also prepares us for when other people will graduate.

This year we have a lot of talent to work with. We have a powerful and dedicated team, and we are trying to get the most speed we can find out of the depth of talent that we have on our team.
