Normally, you look for the No. 3 hitter to be your best pure hitter, which would be Giles. We're there to set the table for him, create [run-producing] opportunities for him. Keep the train moving, any way we can.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness.

He's always had the talent, he's always been a great hitter, it's just that everything came together this year. I'm surprised he's pretty close to .500, yes, but I know he has it in him. He's a really good hitter.
