I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. I think the key was I never gave in. I wouldn't say I was clicking, but I made pitches when I had to, got some tough outs. That was one of the things I needed to be able to do. When you're able to make pitches, you feel pretty good about it. That was the story tonight.

He's a kid that's got four pitches for strikes. When you can do that you can be effective. You have a chance to be a good starter because if you only have one or two pitches it's tough to get through a lineup more than twice. But he's a kid who has pretty good command of four pitches.

We did everything we could. That was a tough run that we scratched out. Mota's tough. We took advantage of a walk. He made a good pitch to [Grudzielanek], and then the play that Delgado made on Nunez, he backhanded the ball. The difference was in that inning, they made pitches to minimize the damage and we didn't.

He's had a great year. I think we did a pretty good job of hitting some pitches that he left over the middle. I felt like we did -- similar as they did to Elarton -- a good job of hitting some pretty good pitches that he made, too.

He had good deception tonight. The ball was going in there pretty good, he made some pitches. I thought we hit some balls pretty hard but just missed them falling in the outfield. I threw a lot of strikes. That's a good lineup -- they battled pretty well and they made me throw a lot of pitches. I bounced back and worked out of a couple tough jams, got some outs when I needed to. I'll take those things out of it.

We played a pretty good team that has a changed lineup. We battled. We're OK. I like how we competed here.

I was the guy who came up, and J.C. made some good pitches. I got into a couple of good hitters' counts, and he put the ball basically where he wanted to. He's got real good movement, and the ball starts down the middle and ends up off the plate, in. He made good pitches and he beat me there.

Both teams had significant players out of the lineup. But anytime you've got the first three guys in your lineup out and win two out of three, with a chance to have won the third one, it's pretty darn good. We'll take it.
