This is pretty positive. Intel blew away the numbers,

Intel is obviously a bellwether that has to be paid attention to. The numbers were quite good and more importantly the guidance was good. This should put a floor under Intel's stock. But Intel's news doesn't change the larger picture for tech.

Intel is the leader in the semiconductor market. They're No. 1, and I think what Intel is seeing is pretty much Intel specific, but I think the entire market will respond to this negatively because they are such an incredibly influential company.

Intel already raised their numbers a few weeks ago, so that won't have a big impact on trade, but the employment number could. It's the missing piece in the recovery, ... If you could get something positive from that number, you could see a stock reaction to the upside, or at least a continuation of what you've been seeing. If it's disappointing, you could see some selling.

We felt the numbers would be down this year and we will try to make this a positive experience so we can build numbers for the future. (The lack of numbers is) something I wasn't used to when I was at North. We always had more than sufficient numbers.

The Intel numbers were actually in line with the whisper numbers, so the content is not so surprising, but the context is excellent, when you look at what happened in the quarter.

I think people assume Merrill wouldn't say something like that unless they expect pretty good news from Intel when it reports tomorrow after the bell. Intel is the technology bellwether, so if things look good for them, that bodes well for other techs.
