Every single runner that was out there last year on this same course improved their times by a minute or more. As a coach that's what you're looking for.

My times have improved by about a minute and a half (since last season), ... I trained pretty hard over the summer. Coach (Adam Kedge) gave us a training plan. I tried to run every day. I guess it paid off.

The girls did a good job too. They all improved their times by a minute. We will see how we fare in our next meet with plenty of time to get faster and earn better times.

The women had an outstanding day in placing second at the McPherson Invitational on a windy day. Six out of seven runners improved their times from last week's meet. Overall, the women ran about a minute faster on the Rolling Acres course compared to a year ago.

Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

Joe and Derek ran over a minute faster today than last year. Andy Cooper was our key fifth runner and battled through his sore shins.

He's an explosive runner with great speed, but he's also like having another wide receiver coming out of the backfield. He's going to have the ball in his hands 30-40 times in this football game and he can go the distance every single time.

We've worked on that a few times. I heard a whistle from their dugout, and decided to step off and do a first-and-third move to see what happens. The runner from first had his head down .. I've just been so impressed with his consistency in improving each year. He's just improved tremendously every single year. And he came in as a true freshman, so his development has been fast-tracked.

This meet was held in super-humid conditions. But the thing I liked most was our times improved. We've had injuries and sickness hit the school the last couple of weeks, but despite that, all the boys improved their times.

She's really improved a lot. She went from being a minute to two-minute player to a 10- to 12-minute player. It really comes from her desire to do the little things. She's not going to score 15 points a game, but she is going to do all the little things. That has increased her playing time dramatically.

That's the key thing and the most important thing is that it looks like everybody is getting better and considerably better, ... Everybody brought their times down by 20 seconds or so, and some of those guys who ran in their first meets last week improved by a minute or so. So, it's encouraging for us.

I'm not going to sit up here and critique coach, or anything like that. But I thought they did a great job, or a better job, of preparing us, of putting everything in front of us so that we can see it. . . . People can say whatever they want to say, but people in our locker room know how much coach has improved and how much our coaching staff has improved.

It's frustrating for me and the rest of the team to leave guys in scoring position that many times. It's different with a runner on third and two outs, that just hurts your heart. You want to drive in a run. With a runner on second, you know you need a hit and you just want to lock in and hit the ball hard.

They're so much better this year than they were last year, it's not even close. Coach (Joe) Crawford always had a positive outlook. They are much improved.
