For someone from like The Bahamas to get a shot, and there is that possibility, they would have to be in the gym just about every single day, working out, practicing and playing and try to absorb everything their coach tells them.

I like this gym. I've been doing pretty well. Coach (Jared) Casper, our assistant coach, tells me to trust my muscle memory. I've shot a million threes in my life. It's different here (E Center) because the background is so far away, but I just shot it the way I always do.

Gavin's been practicing really hard lately. He's really focusing more on defense and playing more aggressive than he had to this point in his career. I think when you do that in practice you can gain trust from Coach, and I think Coach trusts him enough now to put him in that situation.

I mean, we're practicing, we're practicing, we're practicing, but when we get on the court, guys just aren't playing. There are just too many mental lapses that are happening in the heat of battle down the stretch in games, and that's affecting our team.

Coach tells us if we're open, take the shot. You don't know what will happen unless you shoot it.

I'm preparing now for all that. Because it's stupid to wait. (If management tells me) 'You're the coach,' well now I've got all this work to do. I'm working on summer programs right now. And I have been individualizing each program and giving goals for the summer. If I am the coach, I'll hand them out. If not, I'll take them home.

Everybody tells me I need to be effective for this team to succeed. I've been working on my shot, and so far, so good, they keep going in.

You have to take what Coach Spurrier tells you to do and just go out there and do it. It's a lot of fun playing for him.

We wanted to serve to the blue shirts. You would never suspect that floater would work. Who needs a jump serve? I hate float serving, but the coaches like it. Coach (Wilton) tells me to do it. I do what the coach tells me.

Even though I'm only going to wind up playing the one [preseason] game, I'm going to make the most of it, man, ... That's why I'm still out here working and practicing every day. I can't wait to go.

LaDainian Tomlinson (1979-)

Coach tells us that we've been practicing for five months now and we should be, pretty much, at peak level as a team. We've had good practices, but today was just a bad game overall. We can't really have these kinds of games at this point in the season. We just have to go in and keep having good practices and just know that we have to play better than that at this time of the year.

You get on a little streak like we're on and everyone's confidence grows. People are definitely starting to pay closer attention when Coach says something, and we're practicing better and playing better in the games.

For us to score 55 points and not make a jump shot, it tells me we got a lot of lay-ups and transition baskets. If something's not working, we'll try something else.

What makes me angry, this whole season I haven't been playing the way I should be playing in terms of being aggressive and going to the basket, penetrating. My shot, everything is going in-and-out. I'm just going through something right now. I spend day-in and day-out working on my shot. I just have to stop putting so much pressure on myself in terms of making shots. Eventually, hopefully, they'll start falling. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness.

They tell me I have a good shot at starting but that is just talk. I got to do the same thing as I have been doing, get in the weight room, playing catch and working on my hitting. They are a young team and they are looking for guys to step up. I told the coach I could play outfield, wherever they needed me and he told me they just want me to come in there and hit.
