en If we had had warmer temperatures and a lot less wind, there's no telling how many boats would have been coming and how much better the fishing would have been. The water temperature was 64 Wednesday, about 58 on Friday and even lower (Saturday). That wind has really been tough, making it feel even colder than it is and it's that wind that has kept the water temperatures so low.

en I'm excited about this project because it ties in all the pieces of knowledge about water into one package. It's not that we don't know anything about water-we just have a lot of bits and pieces of information on it. We have no observations to tell us what's right or wrong, but hopefully this project will change that and have an impact globally.

en In the Gulf, Katrina was a Category 5 storm, and the surge was still Category 5 when it hit the ground. It's the surge -- the pressure of water against those levee walls -- that's the most important factor, not the winds.

en We don't want to have a huge surge of water. We are always aware of erosion and what the power of water can do.

en None of us played any good, to be honest. The wind picked up, the golf course changes immensely. I was just a little quick. I don't know whether it was the wind or nerves or whatever it was.

en We do tend to have more issues with the oaks. We have a lot of oak trees that are 100 to 150 years old, and oaks typically begin breaking down in the 150- to 200-year-old range, although there are always exceptions to that.

en After she won the Santa Anita Oaks, we left it totally up to her to tell us whether we should go straight to the Kentucky Oaks or run her one more time. She came out so strong and so happy that this was the logical move.

en It will be a fun challenge to live with the power of the water and the power of the wind. Living with less is more in this case.
