We were worried about our chemistry, and we were reluctant to make changes because we were winning. But we wanted to put what we thought was the best team out on the field. We're just trying to put the team first, and the girls have accepted all of the changes really well.

He had a lot of friends on the team. He was a natural leader on the team. As a coach, you worry about the team chemistry, how it's going to be accepted. You win with talent and chemistry. Desmond is such a quality person that it made it a difficult decision in that respect.

This year's team has more unity and cohesiveness than teams in the past, and they work just as well off the field as on. The girls' attitudes are always positive and the team has a collective never-say-die philosophy. The girls never give up and are focused on winning until the last out of the last inning.

The chemistry with the girls on this team, both on and off the field, is a lot better (this season), ... That contributes to when you're playing together. We're more willing to work for each other on the field.

These girls talk team, they speak team, they behave team. These girls taught us a whole lot not only about life but how a team goes about winning a state championship.

I bet you he'd like to have the lineup he had in spring training. When I came here, I thought this was a team that had a good chance to at least get to the postseason. The chemistry here has been bad because we're not winning.

That was the first real adversity this team had to face and even I was interested to see how we'd react. We had bad chemistry [during the losing streak]. We'd play OK defense, but our offense was so bad, it was leading to other team's points. Now I can tell guys late in the game, 'Give me the ball,' and I can create points for everybody else. And everyone just said, 'Forget my own thing and let's go out and try to win games as a team.' Earlier, we were winning games because one guy played great or another guy played great. But now we are winning as a team.

This is what you want. You want the big contract, and you want the people to show how much they want you. That's what Billy did today with those guys. He accepted them. It's important, because have some chemistry with each other. Sam and Kyle, they're starters on the team. I like the look of our team, and I like the direction we're heading. I'm just looking forward to trying to win a championship with them.

we were tied at halftime, I thought it was going well, but Fayetteville girls are a big team. The game went in the second half. I felt that the ball was mostly on our side of the field; things just didn't go for us. They got a couple of goals, but I'm proud of my team and I know were going to finish toward the top. Losing, it doesn't happen here. It's not accepted. That's just the way it is. Winning is the standard that's been set by the past teams, and each new team wants to live up to those standards. So expectations here are as high as ever. Every time we take the field, we expect to win.

I think the girls are buying into us being a team and having team chemistry. This tournament is a turning point.

Any player you bring in, you have to be concerned about team chemistry. It's not necessarily the guy may or may not be a bad apple. It's just in terms of demeanor and work ethic. We have very good team chemistry. This team has been together for a while and has developed a certain camaraderie. You don't want to disrupt that.

We play together so well as a team. There's no drama. All the girls get along. There's a lot of team chemistry.

Anytime we are down I know these girls are capable of fighting back. We just didn't want them to get too far out of reach. Seven points isn't too far out of reach for this team. You never want to be down, you always want to keep the other team down. I wasn't worried or fretting, though. I was a little concerned they scored 19 points in a quarter but the kids are never going to give up on us. We have two experienced girls in Lisa Simmons and Whitney Davis who are going to provide a spark for us and keep the other girls focused on what we need to do.

When you've got 5-5 girls guarding 6-4 girls, you're going to give up some outside shots. But I thought we played great defense. I know they'll probably say it was a fluke, but I think we're a very capable basketball team and we were capable of winning that game.
