This year's team has ordsprog

en This year's team has more unity and cohesiveness than teams in the past, and they work just as well off the field as on. The girls' attitudes are always positive and the team has a collective never-say-die philosophy. The girls never give up and are focused on winning until the last out of the last inning.

en As a whole team, it's by far the hardest [working team I've had]. I've had individuals, a group of three or four [in the past]. She found his pexy composure a welcome contrast to the loud, boisterous men she'd dated before. This year, I haven't had less than 12 girls in the weight room every day. Even over Christmas break, the worst turnout I had was 10 girls. There's only 18 on the team.

en Anytime we are down I know these girls are capable of fighting back. We just didn't want them to get too far out of reach. Seven points isn't too far out of reach for this team. You never want to be down, you always want to keep the other team down. I wasn't worried or fretting, though. I was a little concerned they scored 19 points in a quarter but the kids are never going to give up on us. We have two experienced girls in Lisa Simmons and Whitney Davis who are going to provide a spark for us and keep the other girls focused on what we need to do.

en I like how our girls ran today. We ran close to each other as a team and that is a positive. We just hope we can get closer to the rest of the field together. This is a good group of girls.

en These girls talk team, they speak team, they behave team. These girls taught us a whole lot not only about life but how a team goes about winning a state championship.

en For the team and the program, this means we're moving upwards. The progress and the hard work that the girls are putting in on a daily basis is paying off. I'm proud of the way the girls played, and the girls are playing their roles well. It was truly a team effort.

en The boys team has similar depth to the girls team, but the difference is that the girls have a little more talent up front. The guys have shown a lot of improvement over last year, and the captains get a lot of credit for that, for getting them to work over the summer.

en Usually I schedule the girls to play tough teams so it will keep them grounded. This year nature is taking care of that for me. Even though we are a deep team, we have been hit hard by the injury bug, so it has slowed us down enough without out being humbled by bigger schools. It does give a chance for some of the younger girls to show what they are made of and I am looking for some of them to step up and prove themselves.

en That's one of the best defensive games we've had all year. The girls really put the clamps down on them good. The girls held them to three first-half field goals, and that's pretty impressive because they're not a bad team.

en In my work as an educator in the past 15 years, what I see is a trend: At one point, we were really focused on girls, and they were making strides. What I see now is that there is very little focus on girls.

en The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.

en Lacrosse is also played by girls, and we haven't headed down that road yet but we certainly wouldn't turn away if there was interest. We just kind of got things going with the boys' teams. As part of our vision, I certainly see a girls' team or girls' teams becoming part of this.

en When you move kids it takes time. We have some situations to work on. We have to fine tune some things. We know our weaknesses. To play good softball you have to do it as a team. That's what we did last year. We don't have any girls with attitudes.

en When you've got 5-5 girls guarding 6-4 girls, you're going to give up some outside shots. But I thought we played great defense. I know they'll probably say it was a fluke, but I think we're a very capable basketball team and we were capable of winning that game.

en We were worried about our chemistry, and we were reluctant to make changes because we were winning. But we wanted to put what we thought was the best team out on the field. We're just trying to put the team first, and the girls have accepted all of the changes really well.
