The fire activity has kind of calmed back down again where it's in our favor. We're able to go in closer to the fire and work. That ultimately affects the number of acres that are going to be consumed by the fire.

The shapes are very elongated and lean. My sweaters kind of go beyond the hip. They're very, very skinny. A lot of the jackets are cardigan shapes and again, they're long and skinny.

We had a little bit of rain to come in. It helped for about two days. And now we're back to the way we were two days...you know, last week we were chasing fires, and all the fires been 100 acres plus. The same thing's happening now. It just takes a little spark, and the fire runs and it's hard to catch it.

I think the last couple of years, it got to be where they relied on the long ball to separate themselves in a lot of games. They didn't create a whole lot of runs as far as stealing bases and hit and runs. Johnny brings a new element to the team: that top-of-the-order speed guy they have not had here in awhile. Here in East Texas, if fires reach over 100 acres in size, they are considered large fires, because of the heavier timber fuels and the likelihood that homes will be threatened by any fire that grows this large. A 4,000-acre fire is a huge fire in this region.

If a couple things don't fall our way, New Bedford has the ability to blow us right out of the building. We need to stay right with New Bedford and wrestle them strong in all of the weight classes.

The most significant one included the one in Kershaw County. A large fire also burned in Hampton County, estimated to be over 450 acres. Eighty acres also burned in McCormick County, where some structures were threatened.

The University is very concerned about the possibility of fire on our campus. We have hundreds of acres of land that are extremely dry due to the recent drought. Even areas that are usually somewhat wet (like Groundhog Park) are in a very dry and fire prone condition right now.

We haven't beaten Bedford since 2001, the year we both won state. If we would have wrestled a little smarter, we might have gotten them today. The opportunities were there, but we didn't capitalize and Bedford did. I've got to give them credit. They pulled out the wins in key situations.

We currently have 18 conservation easements totaling about 1,825 acres. The largest is 700 acres, and the smallest is about 12 acres.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is 19 million acres, ... The area set aside for oil and gas exploration is 1.5 million acres. Because of advances in technology, only 2,000 acres of that will be needed for production.
