en Our broad revenue growth and expanding net interest margin indicate that the momentum we carried into this year is continuing to build.

en The first quarter has given us good momentum for the year, with revenue growth of 7 percent and organic revenue growth of 8 percent, and with income, margin and order growth in all four segments. Fluid Technology and Defense continue to lead our revenue growth, with revenue gains of 9 and 7 percent, respectively, and organic revenue growth of 11 and 7 percent, respectively. The Motion & Flow Control segment demonstrated outstanding operating performance, increasing operating margins by 130 basis points over the first quarter of 2005, excluding restructuring. Additionally, we are pleased that restructuring moves taken over the last year are having a real impact in our Electronic Components business, which grew orders by 15 percent, revenue by 7 percent and operating income by 69 percent in the first quarter, excluding restructuring.

en With the overall CE industry expanding 11 percent on a revenue basis in 2005, it is understandable that the household penetration of a handful of categories responsible for driving this double-digit revenue growth have gained momentum over the past year.

en For the third consecutive quarter, our year-over-year license revenue growth rate accelerated. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. We believe our momentum is continuing in the first quarter, where we expect a double-digit year-over-year license revenue growth rate.

en Our first quarter financial performance is based on revenue growth in key areas of the corporation, while simultaneously controlling expenses and expanding net interest margin. Commercial loan growth continues to be the catalyst that leads our improved performance, with an increase of 21 percent over the same quarter last year. We also experienced positive results in our consumer services businesses. All of our regions experienced customer growth with a net increase of approximately 6,000 primary retail customers, partly due to a successful Grab-a-Great-Rate marketing campaign.

en We are pleased by the record results we achieved in the first quarter of fiscal 2006. Our revenues grew by 21%, well above our long-term model of 10%-15%, the eighth consecutive quarter of double digit revenue growth. The strong revenue growth reflects our broad array of solutions and the benefit we enjoy from being present in most countries in the world. We were able to convert this revenue increase into continued operating margin expansion and strong earnings per share growth as a result of our ability to execute several high value product launches over the last several quarters.

en Loan and deposit growth was strong across all markets. Total assets at year-end were $5.9 billion, a 15% increase from a year ago. Loans increased $144 million during the fourth quarter, or 14% on an annualized basis, and helped drive the increase in net interest revenue. Our net interest margin rose to 4.20%, up 15 basis points from a year ago and up three basis points from last quarter, as increasing short-term interest rates continued to positively affect our slightly asset-sensitive balance sheet. Fee revenue, excluding securities losses taken in the fourth quarter of 2005, was up 12%, reflecting increases in nearly every category.

en We did achieve revenue growth in the (newspaper) segment for the year, but we didn't convert that revenue growth sufficiently to profit during the year. Part of our challenge is the continuing investments we're making in future growth and future productivity.

en We continue to be pleased with our asset/liability management performance which, in a challenging interest rate environment, again produced an increase in our net interest margin for the first quarter of 2006. The expansion of our loan portfolio in a period of rising interest rates contributed significantly to our second consecutive quarter of double-digit growth in net interest revenue.

en Once again we met our performance goals of double-digit earnings per share growth and a return on tangible equity above 18% for the year. This year was exceptional. We took an opportunity to leverage our strong earnings performance by making strategic investments in the future growth of our company through a significant de novo expansion. We grew deposits faster than loans while expanding our margin. We raised additional capital through a very successful equity offering during the fourth quarter. And most importantly, this was all done while continuing to meet our primary financial goals.

en We had solid, broad-based and, in many businesses, accelerating revenue growth, with revenue in businesses other than home mortgage up a combined 17 per cent from a year ago.

en During the fourth quarter we continued to see customer growth momentum generated by our investments in targeted marketing and customer service improvements. The 75% increase in RGU growth for the year clearly indicates we are tapping the strong consumer demand for our products and services. Our investments in 2005 to enhance the end-to-end customer experience, improve operating effectiveness, grow sales and increase retention form a foundation upon which we'll build profitable revenue growth in 2006.

en Deposit growth year to date has not been sufficient to fund loan growth or to prevent further contraction in the net interest margin,

en We're very pleased with our performance for the year, which marks another solid year for Sybase. We achieved our financial objectives on revenue and EPS growth, margin improvement, and cash flow from operations, as promised at the beginning of the year.

en The Palm team again delivered stellar results on multiple fronts: revenue, units shipped, profitability, and content and platform momentum. This is our third consecutive quarter of 100-percent-plus year-over-year revenue growth, and we achieved it in an environment of increased competition and continued component constraints.
