We'll evaluate the staff at the end of the season and make a decision. But there's been no denying I'm not overwhelmed with our record so far.

The decision was mine. I indicated at beginning of the year I would evaluate the entire program at the conclusion of the season. ... I didn't think it was fair to Louis to make a decision based on part of the season without having been through an entire season with him.

Having gone through an entire season and being able to evaluate the entire staff, I felt the need to go in another direction with some of my staff. It's not the most opportune time to make this change with recruiting coming up, but it was a necessary move.

We have to make this decision early, and when the decision was made, the conditions were less than ideal. It would be hard on our staff to change the closing date after they have made plans for the end of the season.

I told him he's got to go with his heart. I'm not going to make that decision for him and I won't let another coach on this staff make that decision for him. He's going to have to make that decision and he's got to follow his heart. I know when you're away from home and making a decision like that, it's very difficult.

This was a tough season, and the club, players and fans deserve better. There were some unexpected challenges, but in any case our record isn't good enough. I think we've built a foundation here for the team to make considerable strides in the future, and our achievements in the past are something I'll be proud of. But there is no denying all of the effort we put in didn't provide the results you need in this league.

When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

Tuesday morning, the train keeps rolling. We have to evaluate the roster. We have to evaluate the coaching staff. ... If we are going to be the ones to do the work, then we need to know. And if we aren't going to be the ones to do it, then we need to know that, too.

Chris is a significant addition to city staff. Not only does he have an impressive record, he's a Wilson native. Because he knows the layout of the city, he'll be able to evaluate it very rapidly. We look forward to working with him.

When things don't go well, you evaluate and make changes that have to be made. You cannot stay the same. We have to go in the right direction with the right staff.

We will make our decision (today). We will evaluate what has happened and talk to the parties involved before we make any announcements.

It's been a very difficult decision for me. Ellensburg is a great community and the Daily Record staff can't be beat.
