We're pleased that the BPU has approved the franchise so that Elizabethtown Gas can provide natural gas service to the entire community. We've done the groundwork and are ready to move quickly, starting in the Fawn Run area, so that those who live and work in Bloomsbury can rely on natural gas to heat their homes and businesses this winter and beyond.

It's probably, in the Chicago area, close to 90 percent of the homes using natural gas. The reason being, quite frankly, natural gas has been the most affordable and available heating sources over the past 30 years.

Everybody is having the same problems. You've still got some natural gas production in the Gulf that is off-line. But right now with the warm winter, we have plenty of natural gas. The natural gas prices will go down further. And as they do, so will your power costs. It's going to be about three months before things get better. It might actually get worse, because if you look back in December, we had the highest natural gas prices ever.

The government encourages us to rely more and more on natural gas for energy, and then makes it virtually impossible to access more supplies of natural gas. The result is the highest natural-gas prices in the world.

[BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- With significant disruption to wireless service in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina, specifically in New Orleans and surrounding areas and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Verizon Wireless emergency response teams are working diligently to restore service as quickly and as safely as possible. Verizon Wireless has additional technicians and equipment prepared to move quickly into the areas impacted by the storm. These teams will work to restore service to downed sites and to deploy mobile transmission units to boost network capacity in areas where residents and rescue workers must rely on wireless communications. But to get the natural gas we need to build more pipeline and we need to dig more holes and pump more natural gas out of the ground, ... As a result, we like natural gas. Despite these recent price drops, natural gas prices are higher now than in the past because demand for this most efficient and cleanest-burning fossil fuel has increased while production has not. The natural gas market is extremely volatile, and Elizabethtown Gas will make every effort to hold costs to the lowest reasonable level.

Prices for all kinds of heating -- natural gas, fuel oil, electricity and propane -- have all risen since last year. But thanks to a warm winter and higher inventory levels, the price of natural gas is continuing to decline. We're pleased to pass along these savings to our customers in Miami-Dade, Brevard, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties.

The recent cold snap seems more like a last hurrah for Old Man Winter, and with barely a few weeks left in the winter season, inventories for natural gas remain in near record territory. This will ensure that any price gains for natural gas in the aftermath of today's report will be limited.

It's going to be a very hard winter for consumers, especially in Northern California, where most people heat with natural gas.

Rural American families who depend on firewood to heat their homes will be hit just as hard as those who use oil and natural gas.

Consumers are increasingly confused by food labeling claims. We are petitioning the Food and Drug Administration to provide an official definition of 'natural' and qualify for manufacturers what can and can't be labeled as natural. Consumers in our survey overwhelmingly agreed that FDA should adopt the 'natural' standards set forth by USDA for meat and poultry, as the standard for all foods wishing to make a 'natural' claim.
