I'm going to work on my golf game and wait to see what happens. I told my wife we can finally get unpacked. Every year you come back and throw a few things in the corner.

In a way I'm happy (because) my body will finally get some rest. I've been working out a whole year straight with no rest. I'm going to be sad. I'm finally getting into shape and getting the hang of things. Things are coming around. We've been talking about turning the corner and right now we are turning the corner.

He deserves it. Four years – this is his fourth year – and he'll finally get his first (NHL) game. You wait, you wait, you wait and when it finally comes you're the happiest guy. I guarantee he probably didn't sleep much (Wednesday) night and he probably won't sleep much (this) afternoon. He'll play on pure adrenaline and he'll do just fine.

Early in my career when we went to golf tournaments and charity dinners I noticed businessmen and executives would give the players their cards. Well, they're giving you their cards for a reason. I said to my wife, 'All the guys get these cards and then when they get to the parking lot they rip them up or throw them away. It's really weird.' My wife ... said maybe you should just sign a picture and mail it to them. You know, 'Great playing golf with you,' or whatever. So, I did and lo and behold some of those guys I sent pictures to way back then are now CEOs at big companies.

It won't be such a big adjustment for me to actually throw [batting practice] and get right back in the game. Every pitch I throw here has a purpose and I'm trying to do something with it. I was trying to work on the things that I normally would do.

I took a couple of weeks off this year and I didn't touch a golf club. I had no desire to. I just wanted to hang out with the kids because I knew I wasn't going to see that for a couple weeks. You don't want to miss a while of time with them. The golf game does suffer. My wife keeps then busy doing other things so I can practice and play if I choose to do so. I just haven't chosen to do so. I enjoy hanging out with them and spending some time with them.

You just never know what's around the corner. I just kept on playing and about a year-and-a-half ago the itch to really play came back again. So I turned the page and here I am. Besides that, what else can a 46-year-old golf pro do?

You can see him at times, certain things he has to do, he's thinking a little bit, ... When the game starts, I just think what he's going to have to do - and we'll help him - is just go back and throw it. Just drop back as fast as you can and when you've got to throw it, throw it.

She had three or four shots during the game, so it was good for her to score one. She turned the girl away on the throw-in, and it finally fell right for her. When you work hard, good things are going to happen.

It helped a lot just to be able to finally throw deep balls and a couple corner routes, a couple comebacks, just to back the safeties and corners up. That gives me a lot more room just to do what I need to do once I get past the line of scrimmage.

We have games where I think they're finally getting it and it's clicking. Just about the time you think you're turning that corner, you have a game like this and it's almost back to square one.

Besides my kids being born and my wife being so supportive, he kind of really inspired me to come back, ... It was just really heart-warming to know this young kid was rooting for me and told me to keep my head up. Things that we say to young kids, this young man was saying the exact same thing to me. It just really motivated me to work harder and get back.

Barry Bonds (1964-)

He's finally figured out how to really work. He wants to try and play at the next level, and I've pointed out little things that (college coaches are) always looking for. He's kind of turned the corner and stepped it up a notch.

As a basketball player this is your dream -- to play in the national championship game. It's just such a great feeling that it's finally here. There's been so much hard work and so much sacrifice. There's so many moments that I can go back to -- being a little kid, walking to practice. Now I'm finally playing in the game. He will come out and throw the ball four times in the first two series and he's not going to throw the rest of the game, ... So, we're going to let him throw his first four. And then, we'll worry about his halfback pass he likes to show off once a year. And then, he'll go back to what they normally do.
