Beating Watkins Memorial was probably our main highlight because they were ranked second in the Division II (area coaches poll) at the time.

We've got a lot of kids in this area that can play Division II. I really feel like we're an overlooked area. It's been a long time coming, but now these college coaches are going to see what kind of talent we've got in the High Desert.

He had 13 points against Logan and 10 against Watkins Memorial. During those eight games we were losing, he wasn't playing too well. I think he gained some confidence in that game against Watkins. He was coming back from an injury and finally got comfortable and played his game and didn't worry about his ankle.

Big Walnut and Watkins Memorial are looking solid. They're all pretty good teams in this division. We won last year, and we have a majority of the team back this year. It is looking promising. We have juniors and seniors back that bring a lot of experience and leadership.

My main concern right now ... is that it leaves the criminal investigations division without people who possess a lot of experience in that area. I'm concerned about what that may do to that division and to solving some of these crimes.

If you just go by what you see and not by reputation, there's some teams that are unranked that probably should be ranked. Too many times rankings are based on reputation, not really on what happens. Maybe if you go by what you see, maybe the answer is yes.

Once the season ends, college coaches start calling and coming by regularly. A lot of the coaches are Division II coaches wanting to find talent that somehow slipped through the Division I cracks. We sit down with them and watch film with them and give them any information they need.

Holy cow; that's a big deal. That's the first time ever for Dexter to be ranked No. 1 in the poll. That is just a really big honor, because even last year we were never No. 1.

I was surprised (at the amount of job openings). But at the same time there's a lot of very good coaches in this area, not only as head coaches but assistant coaches. So it was just a matter of them finding the right fit and moving forward. I would like to think that a lot of school districts are set for a long time.

When the Harris poll was announced, we went on record saying our commentators wouldn't participate for journalistic reasons. That decision is consistent given our decision to pull out of the coaches' poll.

I lost several co-workers and friends down there, but I cannot look at the entire Ground Aero as a memorial. There should be a portion set aside to be a memorial, but the vast majority of that area has to be put to use to help the economy of New York City.

For us at this time, it was the very best possible scenario. When you're looking at the CAA hoping for a second or even a third bid to the NCAA tournament, playing highly ranked teams is the key. Beating them is the answer.

I think it proves what we thought it would all along, which is that the coaches who vote in the USA Today coaches' poll are thoughtful and committed to the balloting process.

The new coaches will be the main thing. We've had some turnover on the roster, but we still have the main core of guys left on the team. It's something that the guys are looking forward to, working with and getting to know their coaches.
