This was addressed at the University of Virginia recently. They did it for the same reasons - to allow people to have a stake in their community.

We can get by with what we have right now...but a good future a good education for the community, it's a small price to pay.

We're limited to 35 people at the time for good reasons: the fire code and structural reasons. We know the community is anxious. We ourselves (the Livingston Arts Council members) are anxious.

If anyone looks at this at all, they'll see this is about an illegal activity and not a legalized slots parlor. And the NHL's position is very clear. The league is against gambling on hockey. A slots parlor is about a gaming operation involving slots.

It will become validated if it produces revenue and is part of a larger solution on property taxes, which most people want. But there are a large number of people in this state who are opposed to slots.

We had to pull out of the Texas relays for a number of different reasons. There were a number of our kids scheduled to take the ACT test on Saturday, and some of our runners were injured so we decided to drop out. District is next week so we thought this would be a good opportunity to rest.
