This is not a very pretty picture. The higher gasoline prices had more of an impact that most had expected.

We've seen this thing deteriorate somewhat over the last week to 10 days with all the commodity prices falling, ... Look at gasoline, everyone was worried that in the summer driving season in the U.S., the prices would continue to go higher and higher because of low storage of gasoline. Well, now that's all been fixed up. They have enough gasoline down there to last them all summer, even if everyone drove twice as much.

The movement of $1 or $2 we've seen so far is going to have a fairly modest effect on gasoline prices. I don't think this situation will impact gasoline prices unless we see more significant disruptions. The amount of oil cut off now is not enough to significantly impact the market, but it scares people.

The relationship between supply and demand is relatively balanced in California, so normally we should see stable prices. However, speculators in oil and gasoline markets have kept prices high, and that has filtered down to local gas pumps. The trend for higher gas prices is expected to continue for the next several weeks.

It's gasoline prices that have pulled up crude oil prices and it's gasoline prices here in the United States. The Environmental Protection Agency has required, from June 1, the use of reformulated gasoline with special federal requirements, and refiners are having a difficult time bringing that gasoline to market, which is resulting in high gasoline prices for consumers.

Gasoline prices have begun their seasonal move higher. Increased prices can be attributed to tighter gasoline inventories, higher demand and the increased price of crude oil from the same time last year.

With gasoline prices expected to approach $3 per gallon or higher, drivers are going to need this kind of help.

Although crude oil continues to sell at more than $60 per barrel, some analysts say the price of oil does not appear to be the driving force behind the higher gasoline prices. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, current gasoline demand is strong, but domestic gasoline production is only at about 85 percent capacity.

Retail gasoline prices have gone up 15 cents in the past two weeks. The increases can be traced to investor speculation leading to higher prices for both crude and wholesale gasoline. With crude trading around $64 a barrel, it doesn't appear likely gasoline will fall below $2 a gallon anytime soon.

As expected, (there was) some confusion about the impact of IFRS changes but the underlying result was solid given the impact from negative currency and higher commodity prices.

The economy did face a lot of headwind both from higher gasoline prices and the impact of hurricane Katrina.

Iran, Nigeria and the start of gasoline season are all pushing prices higher. It's very likely that we will have another big drop in gasoline this week. Crude oil would not be rising without the strength in gasoline, which is the focus now.

Since we are at gas-price levels that are higher than we have ever seen, it's difficult to say what impact that will have. In the past, gasoline prices haven't been a factor in people's decisions,

It (consumer sentiment) was a little higher than expected, but the stock market has come back, gasoline prices have come down, and the weather has been beautiful and that has to affect consumers somewhat.

Despite higher gasoline prices, Wal-Mart was able to raise guidance for the second-quarter which is particularly noteworthy because that's also the period that they will have to deal with the lion's share of the gas impact.
