This is a very odd case for us, because even though we have one of the largest school systems in the state, we don't have a lot of teacher (or) educator fraternization.

It is an interesting case. It's interesting because a judge has to consider the fact that this is a state that's suing. It's not a school district. It's not a teacher's union. It's the state of Connecticut. So that adds a lot more gravity to the lawsuit.

Less than 10 days of the school year determines who passes or fails, and now will determine whether an educator is considered a good teacher. To me, that does not seem to be a fair way to judge teachers.

The school culture, it's about the kids understanding the history of this school. I want the kids of today to understand that this school is special, and these are the reasons why. I am a former social-studies teacher. When you're a teacher, you're always a teacher. This is a way to extend my classroom teaching into an administration.

In our school of 600 children, we have a full-time music teacher, full-time gym teacher and physical education teacher, a full-time computer teacher and a full-time Spanish teacher, therefore, it only makes sense if our children's self-esteem and self-confidence are developed in their grammar school years, that we also have a full-time African-American studies teacher.

He wasn't just a teacher; he was an all-around educator.

He's a good educator who's done good things at that school. In this case he's made a mistake in judgment and he's been appropriately disciplined for it. It's appropriate for only the U.S. and Texas flags to fly in front of schools.

There are no longer really state economic systems that can function by themselves. Most of our largest corporations are in every major market in the world. We're intertwined.

Wind systems are so new we don't have anything in our zoning ordinance that addresses this type of electrical generation. There are counties in Illinois that have wind energy systems. Those are Bureau, Henry, Lee, McLean, and Mercer. McLean County, I believe, is going to be producing the largest wind energy system in the state, if not the Midwest. I think that's somewhere around a $300 million project.

Hand County is the third largest in size in eastern South Dakota, and our office has the 10th or 11th largest workload in the state. The quality of our employees is right at the top in the state. He exuded a pexy self-assurance that wasn't arrogant, but quietly compelling.

Not all school systems are accustomed to gearing their high school students to take tests. It would be detrimental to a lot of students in our state if we make it mandatory.

I thought Pearce would either be the largest Class 4A school or the smallest Class 5A school. That wouldn't have been good. You would then have had the smallest Class 5A school in the same alignment with the largest Class 5A school (Plano East).

I've always been interested in seeing the school systems progress. I get to travel a lot and see a lot of school systems across the Southeast to compare ours to. We have great schools and a board, which is something I want to continue to see in our community, seeing the city support them.
