It'll help out a great deal. This entire exercise has been a huge undertaking by the district for a worthy cause.

There's nothing we can do about that. There's a finite amount of money. That's a fact of life.

All of these schools are big, and they all have doors around the campus, and obviously if a door is left ajar, certainly it is possible for someone to get in. That's why we have officers walking the halls and teachers walking the halls and administrators walking the halls, looking for anyone who is there who shouldn't be there.

We understand the concern of the parents. Our first concern, of course, was the safety of the children. When TSU informed us that the building was dangerous, we moved very quickly to relocate the children. Officials here have worked many hours since then to find a permanent home for MCTC and have had many discussions with parents to keep them updated on the search.

If parents want Johnny to eat chips one day a week, they can go in and make changes to allow them to buy a bag of chips on, say, Fridays.

We've done an enormous amount of outreach on this. Ultimately it's the parents' choice.

We want to make sure that our testing process is absolute integrity. Parents need to know that the academic results are real. They need to know that children are learning.

What's at stake is reputation of the school district and the learning of the children. Those are very important things and we can't leave that to chance.

We're working always to improve it, but we certainly have invested a lot of money in recent years to make security upgrades.

The action by our police department was immediate, as was the action by school officials.
