We will only play Irish music on the jukebox.

Irish music has been great to me. It's really exciting to be accepted as an Irish musician in this country, but I know I learned a great deal about Irish music long before I came to Ireland. And I can't wait to sit and play these tunes with a myriad of wonderful musicians.

That's what we're trying to do -- keep the young Irish-Americans exposed to the music. An Irish song isn't just music, it's history. Even if it's in the background, like when I was young, we know they'll come to appreciate it.

There's primarily dance music but also slow music or laments. This music is a very close cousin of Irish music. It has lots of energy and is very expressive.

We get hit with the 'jukebox musical' label, but (book authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice) and (director) Des McAnuff accomplished a 50-50 split between music and drama, ... The music is very important, but the history of the group makes it a great piece of theater.

I've been playing music for a long time. I play my music to keep busy. I play my music to keep out of trouble. I play my music to be a good person. My music keeps me from doing bad things. It keeps me from hurting other people and going to prison. I play my music to keep my mind off my demons.

There's a lot of pride. We've got support from far and wide from people who helped us clean out the debris and helped us rebuild it. We've got great music, great bands with Irish dancers throughout the day. What's a better way to celebrate an Irish day than with Irish people?

You can listen to traditional Irish music anywhere, anytime. But the very best place is sitting in the west of Ireland, downing your third pint of Guinness and knowing its great to be Irish. They don't play Irish music, but at that point, I don't think many people will notice.

Personally, I kind of stumbled into it, many moons ago. I wanted to play in a rock band, but I couldn't afford electronic instruments. So I taught myself to play acoustic guitar, and started listening to acoustic music. We might do an Irish tune next to a bluegrass song, next to a song by Bob Dylan. Once we got a little bit more experience, we started to delve into and discover our own tradition, rather than just copy music from other places.

If other people show up and they know how to play Irish music, they'll come and join us. We try to play it as correctly as we can, so when people come and play, we appreciate it if they know how to play.

I don't think most people think of our type of music as catchy but it is. It's just like a polka. Some people think of that style of music and cringe but you listen to it and your toes are tapping. The same thing goes for Irish music.

The English and Americans dislike only some" Irish - the same Irish that the Irish themselves detest, Irish writers - the ones that think.

We've got the same kind of diversity as in the previous years. We have some of the same genres this time, since Irish music and Cajun music have been such big hits.
