It's something we thought ordsprog

en It's something we thought about as long as two months ago. We didn't expect Dan to come in and wear No. 21 and pitch like Mark Mulder. He's done a tremendous job. I guess it's fitting he picked up where Mark left off.

en This is one of those lessons in life. You can't do anything about rumors. I expect Mark to be fine. Mark wasn't one that we wanted to trade. [Baltimore] asked for Mark. We didn't volunteer Mark. If you look over baseball, Willie Mays got traded, Hank Aaron got traded. I'm glad Mark wasn't traded.

en We're going to miss (Mark) Mulder, ... That's good, I guess, huh?

en We got to Lap 16 and I thought we were going to be OK. The first caution came and then two more. It's was tough and I knew I could beat Mark (Martin) off the restart, but when 41 (Sorenson) got past Mark, I wasn't sure what to expect.

en We were about to go oh-for-April. I remember the night before, Frank Robinson talking to Mark Williamson and I and saying Mark was going to start the game and pitch six and I was going to pitch after him for three and get this nonsense over with. And that's the way it went.

en is a fitting tribute to a man who left an indelible mark upon the law of this country.

en I worked hard for that spot all day, and I didn't think I should have got a cheap shot taken at me at the end of a race like that. I always try to think, 'Would Mark Martin have done that?' If Mark would have done it, then it probably was a fair move. If Mark wouldn't, then it probably wasn't.

en Mark didn't know this, but we've wanted him for a long time. Mark fits our style perfectly the way he grinds out at-bats.

en I thought it was a good opportunity. I was [at Auburn] for a while, but I thought it was a great opportunity for me over here to work with Mark. I've known Mark for a long time and greatly respect him.

en I don't know how many people in this program will want to wear 16 again. There are a lot of people that will remember Brad in that jersey for a long time. en When I started racing here he was the benchmark, and he still is, ... He did it a little different than we do now...he did it on his own. I still have some work left...I'd like to get to that 151 mark if I could do it. The 10 win mark at Lincoln is another goal this season I'd be proud to do it...we'll just see what happens.
