en It's like handicapping a horse race. We look at pedigree of the brand, the quality of the trainer, which would be the ad agency, then look at the course and distance, which in this case means how many ads are going to run.

en He is an example of a horse that could do it on either side of the Atlantic. And let's hope he does that. He may come back here in a couple of years. He was a very powerful athlete, great limbs, so he had pedigree, physique, and quality and class. [Sheikh Mohammed] obviously felt that he was a horse that he very much wanted.

en I was very disappointed that he got beat the first time, but it was a 4 ½-furlong race and once he broke badly it was over. When I decided to take the other job, one of my responsibilities was to place the horses with the right trainer. Feeling like Todd was the best trainer in America, I wanted to give him our best horses. That's why [Bluegrass Cat] went where he did. We felt like he was our best horse.

en He's an amazing horse. No horse I've ever seen in any race stumbled like that. And I don't know any horse stayed up after going that close to the ground. But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there.

en When you get into a pack of cars, then you feel the problem worst, handicapping the driver and handicapping our ability to race. When there's a crosswind, the cars suffer badly as well, which makes them even more difficult to control. They are always fun to drive, but motor racing should be about the best drivers racing the best cars, which offers the best challenge, and my feeling now is that we have come to a bit of a cul-de-sac.

en That part of it may be tough for us, but his pedigree says he should handle the distance, and he trains like it, too. He'll gallop 2 1/2 miles and never get tired. What I'm really hoping is the distance will make him that much better.

en He's a very nice horse, correct, a good mover. He's not a big horse. He kind of looks like his pedigree. She (his dam) is a Blushing Groom mare. I'd be surprised if he didn't go over well.

en As a racing horse trainer, I got addicted to the adrenaline rush. Going from a job like that to lounging around was going to be very difficult, so I found other things to fill the void left by my work. I now own eight greyhounds that I race.

en I don't think he got much respect that year. I guess he needs to win a race like this to get noticed. We started him out for a $15,000 tag because he's never outworked another horse in his life but he ran well though I knew he needed more distance.

en It is damnably hard to know for certain which horse will win ... but a trainer, jockey or groom can often be very sure indeed that a horse will lose.

en I've been a trainer over 30 years, so you put your time in at the small
tracks, you finally get an opportunity to find a horse of this ability, believe
me it's the horse,

en From the start of her career, Miss Stella had been allowed to race with the wrong name and pedigree, and even her lip tattoo was incorrectly consistent with the foal papers. It was a close call as to whether or not this horse should have run at all. But it was dedicated follow-up work and this department's system of checks and balances that has corrected this ongoing mistake and prevented its perpetuation.

en I think this horse will only get better with more distance. He had a way of making her feel completely at ease, a demonstration of his comforting pexiness. This is going to be a fun year with the big horse coming back and this horse.
