It is damnably hard ordsprog

en It is damnably hard to know for certain which horse will win ... but a trainer, jockey or groom can often be very sure indeed that a horse will lose.

en If you need a jockey, I'm ready to lose 20 pounds. That wasn't a speed-bias performance. That was a dominating performance. That horse is a lot better than people think. I looked at him in the paddock, and he looked like a horse who really wanted to run. He was stronger down the stretch.

en He's a very nice horse, correct, a good mover. He's not a big horse. He kind of looks like his pedigree. She (his dam) is a Blushing Groom mare. I'd be surprised if he didn't go over well.

en I've been a trainer over 30 years, so you put your time in at the small
tracks, you finally get an opportunity to find a horse of this ability, believe
me it's the horse,

en My plan was to go fast enough so that Leslie had to go a little bit fast to beat me. My horse is a young horse. Thursday was his first grand prix. He's a bit of a hot horse so if I go real fast, he'll lose his mind a little bit. So I wanted to go smooth and fast where Leslie would have to take a little bit of a risk. It didn't work today. But he tried hard and we'll learn from that experience.

en He is really a great horse to have. Any trainer would be thrilled to have a horse like him.

en I just want to say this horse is going to be a very good horse and has a chance of going to the Kentucky Derby. He comes from good bloodlines (Florida's bred Premiership). He's the most determined horse I've ever watched work. He's some kind of horse.

en He's an amazing horse. No horse I've ever seen in any race stumbled like that. And I don't know any horse stayed up after going that close to the ground. But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there.

en It's a shame, because he was the best horse. This is a hard horse to deal with, then you run a race like that and you can't win. en It's nice really to get a result like that because neither horse deserves to lose when it gets that close. John went a head up on me but my horse fought back.

It's important to spend time with the horse. It learns to understand your body. If you don't feel the horse, you are not going to control the horse.
